Reasons To Exercise for Baby Boomers
As I age the reasons to exercise become more and more obvious. Perhaps you have noticed that once you hit the mid-40s it becomes impossible to eat the same way you ate at 20 and still maintain a healthy weight. I began to fight weight gain as soon as I turned 46.
It’s amazing how much regular exercise help. Dieting alone does not keep my weight down. I have to combine dieting with daily exercise or the pounds keep increasing.
Here are three reasons to exercise that are especially important for baby boomers.
The first is to maintain a healthy weight. Did you know that even carrying around an extra ten pounds can hurt your overall health? It leaves you more open to cancer and heart disease.
The second benefit of exercise is for your heart’s health. It lowers your cholesterol, strengthens your heart, and lowers your risk of heart attack.
The third benefit of exercise is it improves your outlook on life. If you have trouble with depression, regular exercise, (especially walking) can help you overcome it.
These are just three reasons to exercise. It’s so easy to just go outside and walk for half an hour a day or sit and peddle a stationary bike while watching a half hour sitcom, as long as your doctor gives you the okay, there are no reasons not to spend a half an hour a day promoting your good health.
